Power of words

I have been working on jewelry and not having time to catch up my blog....
Shame on me !
I am using a small book That the binding had broke in and taking the pages out and slowly but surely cutting each word out individually .........not for the easily bored I warn ya !

Then I am taking mod podge and gluing the words to different types of  piece to turn into pendants. I add a bit of wire wrap and it is ready to be attached to  a beaded necklaceI will be working with Catholic  Art images here in coming week to make Saint Micheal and Saint Christopher necklaces

Farmhouse Friday .... Drying Pheasant wings

I am doing a bit of  work today and drying Pheasant wings to later to used in making Native American Fans and in Hair Fascinators...........
I didnt take any *yucky*  photos .
I found my box of Borax at Kroger ( grocery). It is actually a washing soda powder but it used to tan out bird wings and such.
Then I grabbed a package of brown paper lunch bags. Several wings fit in each one and then I added a 1/4 cup per bag and shook them up so all the wing would be dusted with the Borax
Next , I packed away in a plastic bin I had and I will put away in the shed for several weeks to dry out....
Once they have all dried I will wash them to sanitize them and then dry with the blow dryer.Some may later be dyed light colors or used naturally 

The feathers will be used in projects such as these below.............  

Feather Fascinators and Hair Clips

I am working on feather hair pieces and fascinators this week to be listed on both Etsy and in my Ebay . Here is one of them I just finished up. 
I pluck the feathers from birds that are hunted for meat and wash them up. Some are kept natural and others will be dyed soft colors

Reach For The Stars When Life Gets You Down .........

When life knocks you flat on your back......
Open your eyes
Above you are the stars 



I had forgotten how to reach for the stars when on my back...... now I am working hard to recover that skill.
Last night I created this spirit dancer from an Oak branch ........she is bending and reaching for the stars while balancing firmly on one foot. She is not letting life get her down and will continue to strive for the stars.

My new Look ...

After much pain and drama ( which is still unfolding concerning my job) I have my new foot /leg brace. 
Not pretty or elegant at all ..........BUT it allows me to get up and moving safely and now I can get back to doing the things I need to do .........though I am still using my cane at the moment for balance .

It will mean a job change and job retraining ......i will not be able to work my janitor job ( no loss there) .......I am looking forward to SOON I Hope ...learning new skills that I can turn into  a sit down job ..

Crafting to destress ......

I took a plant stand...2 candle lanterns ....broken cd holder ...old foam head and several little fake birds and a curtain rod and turned into a display that will show off the hair fascinators ( sp?) I am making . The fondue pot holder sitting in under it i am going to hang with crocheted cord somehow in middle of it .
then i took apart some old sweat shirts an made into neck cowls and painted them with goddess dancers.

The neighbor's kitty MITTENS comes to visit me every morning and evening.......She checks on me and is very aware of my foor injury...she gives me "kitty energy " and lays across my bad foot while she is her. She stays about a half hr and then wants to go back home ( next door )
 I am way trying to not stress about this whole foot injury thing...... waiting on Insurance  company  to tell me what they are going to pay for the foot brace i will have to wear from now on . ............sigghhhhh!!  I wont go into it all . Just will look for lots of unfinished craft projects to work on and see what all i can upcycle while I wait for this all to play out.........  and enjoy every moment of every day ' Life is too short to be unhappy

I have been working on this piece of artsy furniture to display my jewelry on.......I hate to put away my necklaces in a jewelry box....i enjoy seeing them every day.I started this a good month ago and then put away after the base coat. It was a repurposed object project . The horse was a discarded xmas display a neighbor gave me.. the short round table was also given to me last year ..........the thin wood strips were a from window treatment box a friend gave me and the main beam a piece of scrap wood a neighbor was cleaning out
I had time this week to play with it a bit.........still need to put a 4th coat of paint . I normally like the Plaid brand paint but i must have gotten a bad bottle ...two coats should have covered it completely . I will have to buy another bottle to finish but it will wait till after xmas. NOT about to head to a store this last week of xmas :)
I decided on the yarn for the hair  and going to use an Italian tie for a blanket ...i have them laying on the horse for now .
I will add brass tacks to the rocker areas to hang necklaces on and then the narrow wood pieces will hold bracelets and whatever else .

It is     chest high when sitting on the floor . I will put on a low card table and will be perfect :) 
After next week hopefully I will get him finished ...... 
I will be saving scrap wood of all kinds for a next project and hopefully to build a chicken tractor to house couple of chickens come spring
